When walking, standing, sitting,
lying down, speaking, being
silent, moving, being still.
At all times, in all places, without
interruption – what is this?
One mind is infinite kalpas.
Zen means simple. That’s why japanise design and architecture dipped in zen is simple too. The philosophy around zen believe is focused and harmonised. When doing something, just do it. When driving, just drive; when eating, just eat; when working, just work. That mind is already enlightenment, what Japanise call Great Love and Great Compassion.
You you feel that you stick to this idea you can start with your interior full filing it with zen motives like japanese plats - bonsai, bamboo, palm and orchid. The main rule is keep it simple.
If you want to give some more japanese character to your space it’s good to think about big windows and wooden elements like walls, doors, bars and frames. Bamboo is a very good idea.
And remember that the zen master once said:
Even after enlightenment you still have to do the laundry.
